Affordable housing on site of former Boston food depot

One of Boston’s derelict industrial areas will soon be transformed into affordable housing for more than 40 families in a £5 million development by D. Brown (Building Contractors).

Work has just started to redevelop the Blue Street site of the former Pilgrim Foods depot. And it will soon provide new homes for 41 families, including 33 for rent and eight for shared ownership under a part-buy, part-rent scheme.

The launch of the construction phase was marked when Waterloo Housing Group board member Brian Burnett and Boston Borough Council’s housing, property and community portfolio holder Coun Mike Gilbert, turned the first sod.

The scheme is receiving investment support of £160 ,000 from the council and £1m from the Homes and Communities Agency.
